It was the first time I got to bring my passion for Blender into a real production, and my friends at 'Alle Achtung' were incredibly brave to trust me on this plan. We jumped in headfirst, learning about greenscreen shooting, 3D tracking, 3D compositing, and a ton of other stuff along the way. Huge thanks to the Blender community for all the amazing tutorials! We were lucky enough to see the song hit number one in Austria, and the video got a lot of attention and great feedback.
After the shoot, it was my turn at the computer. I tracked every shot, built all the background models, and then spent a really long time getting the virtual light show just right.
the process
The entire video required pre-production in Blender. Therefore, I conducted an extensive PreViz phase, culminating in a preliminary edit prior to filming. This was crucial, as real-time knowledge of the virtual background, focal lengths, and other parameters was essential during greenscreen shooting.
Having planned everything out, we headed to the studio for our shoot day. We were constantly rotating the scene to keep the greenscreen in the camera's frame. But we stuck to our plan, and we had an amazing team working with us.
